Getaway to Mont-Saint-Michel

I arrive there after a rather eventful journey (thank you SNCF strikes), and then Grenoble is still not right next door : 8hour and a half journey, no less ! Brief, I arrive in the afternoon on the Mont, time for me to get my bearings at the hostel before the cocktail, and discover my room and its exceptional view of the bay.

Around 6 p.m., we are welcomed by three chefs, Alain Grespier chef of the Mère Poulard kitchens, Phillipe Uruca MOF pastry and Phillipe Enguehard MOF cook, around a cocktail. Dinner follows in the legendary rock room of the Mère Poulard restaurant. The omelette being the essential of the house, it is served to us as a dish. I rediscovered it with pleasure, oui, because I had the chance to have lunch there in the company of Monsieur a few years ago, during a romantic visit to Mont-Saint-Michel.

The day after, waking up to 7 hours is a bit tough because a culinary challenge in the legendary kitchens of Mère Poulard awaits me. The chefs challenged us to make a dessert for 6 people in 1 hour, with an imposed basket and biscuits from Mère Poulard. After an hour of testing and expert chefs, I returned my copy and I'm pretty happy with myself, I'll let you admire the result which will earn me second place with the prize for the most technical recipe : strawberry fennel tartlets.

Before lunch time, a walk with a guide is offered to us to discover the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and I can tell you that this escapade remains unforgettable for me. Feet in the swing (bay mud), we cross the currents of the rising tide to discover breathtaking landscapes and the famous quicksand.

After lunch with the chefs and a mushroom risotto to die for, let's go for a visit to the Mont, in the company of a guide ! And I can tell you that we all walked well because the guide made us discover the Mount from all its angles, from the Mount of Wonders (the monastery and the abbey), hence the expression Mont et Merveilles !

I end this last evening with a little night out and the next day is already the departure…
Thank you to the entire Mère Poulard team for this stay, to chef Grespier for his welcome and to chefs Urraca and Enguehard for their kindness. Thanks also to Gilles without whom this adventure would not have been possible. A great moment shared with a team of crazy bloggers made up of : Celine, Cecile, Carine, Aurélie, Albania, Lilou, Anne Sophie, Sandra, Severine et Dominique.
In any case, I hope that this article has made you want to go and discover Mont Saint-Michel and I promise, I'll be back very soon with a recipe !
