Israel, stopover in Jerusalem and the Dead Sea
Israel, stopover in Jerusalem and the Dead Sea
Although very pretty, I advise you to enter first through the Jaffa Gate, because you can go down the city through the souk to the Western Wall.

Once you arrive at the Western Wall, you will be able to access the mosque esplanade but which is only open to tourists in the morning.

Then continue your journey through the different stages of the Via Dolorosa, path taken by Jesus before his crucifixion, you will end your journey at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

A Gedi, the Wadi David nature reserve and the Masada fortress
The Dead Sea is the lowest region in the world because yes, it is located at 417 meters below sea level, but it is also an extremely salty sea recognized for its medicinal virtues.

Why not let yourself go and relax, finally float, in the Dead Sea ?! An experience and landscapes to discover absolutely because it is breathtaking, and as I know you also like to take care of yourself, you can also cover yourself in mud (Well, ridicule doesn't kill you, but I'll spare you the photos.… !)

To continue, let's go for a walk in Wadi David in the Ein Gedi nature reserve, an astonishing desert landscape that hides lush nature and waterfalls (I know it makes you want) …but first come, first served, I therefore advise you to open the park, plus it will be cooler !!!

No no you are not dreaming, so above all, don't forget your swimsuit because it would be a shame to miss it all the same !

A little history is essential with a visit to the Masada fortress. An archaeological site built in 103 of. JC, who served, later as a refuge against the invasion of the Romans. The site culminates at 450 meters above ground level (approximately sea level), you can choose to access it on foot (count on 1 hour of walking in the heat for the bravest) or by cable car (for lazy people like me !).

I didn't lie to you, there is really no shadow !

I hope you liked these discoveries and made you want to discover Israel.

Yes, the mud bath is definitely something to do, but be careful not to act like an idiot like me and rinse with your eyes wide open with the shower with dead sea water rather than with fresh water. !!!

3.12.13I went there too 2 times. This country full of history is magnificent. Eilat is also very impressive because you can see Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and therefore Israel when you bathe in the Red Sea.
Did you go to Bethlehem ? City so full of history too.
And like you, I keep the memory of a magnificent sunburn while visiting the Masada fort (in November though).
Hey, that makes me want to write a post about these trips too 😉
Emilie
4.12.13Oh yeah !!! I also loved Eilat, being a diving fanatic with Monsieur we really enjoyed ourselves ! I saw Bethlehem but a little quickly during my first trip because we were still during the second intifada unfortunately.
I still have the north of the country to visit and I hope to be able to do it one day 😉
