Weekend in Megève – Toquicimes

Arrivée sur place en fin de matinée, le programme débute sur la place du village avec le concours de farcement (ou farchement), ancient Savoyard and Haute-Savoyard specialty of which there are as many recipes and know-how as there are villages in these departments ! To sort it all out, a fine range of chefs made up the jury, including the emblematic chef 3 stars Marc Veyrat.

After a quick lunch, meet at Père Sotieu counter, a pretty pastry shop located in the heart of Megève, in the company of Sandrine for a styling and culinary photography workshop around the store's products. I must say that it is not necessarily easy to tell a story with products that you have not cooked yourself., but it’s an interesting exercise and we had a good laugh. Obviously we ate just as well, as you can imagine., I really fell in love with the chestnut cake and the crunchy gianduja-style spread., we will have to spend all this now or not !

In the evening we put our suitcases down the Mont-Blanc hotel, legendary and historic hotel in the city center of Megève. It's just the wow effect when you enter inside the hotel and the room was perfect in mountain style. Obviously, I hung out at the spa a bit with my friends, at the same time who would have deprived themselves of it ! The morning, I still try the hotel breakfast (well yes, don't push grandma anyway), before leaving for Marie's Farms for a second breakfast/workshop still in the company of Sandrine.

So we set off as a group on foot through Megève in the mist and discovered this sublime establishment that looks like a giant chalet.. A gigantic breakfast buffet awaits us, I would have needed 3 lives to taste everything, but I admit that I mainly set my sights on the minute-cooked waffle and a blueberry compote on top, greedy me ?!

After this brunch-style breakfast, we headed back to the village square for the fondue competition.. Fondue competition which brought together individuals judged by chefs and a battle of chefs, with a very special fondue from an Italian chef based on bagna cauda (pronounce “caoda”, Piedmontese specialty based on anchovies !).

It is already time to leave Megève which welcomed us under this beautiful sun (and that’s good because the following weekend I won’t even explain the weather to you!), the weekend passed very quickly but was very busy ! I think I'll go back to visit this winter., because we were told about a winter sky skating rink and I admit that Megève under the snow and lit up must be magical !
